About TrueTool
Why TrueTool exists
I got tired of fake stuff.
Of “free online converters” that upload your file, blur the result, and ask for a credit card. Of download buttons that turn out to be ads. Of tools that want an email address before they will do arithmetic on a calendar. Of confident answers that fall apart when you check them. Too much of the web exists to be clicked, not to help.
So I started building tools the other way around: every tool on this site exists because I needed it, and every off-the-shelf option was worse than making one.
The name carries the promise: a true tool does exactly what its page says — and that is the bar every tool here is held to.
- The Parquet viewer exists because a locked-down work laptop would not let me install anything to open a colleague's data file.
- The pip offline generator exists because I once spent an evening hand-assembling wheel flags for a machine with no internet.
- The date tools exist because I kept counting “every second Tuesday” on my fingers and getting it wrong.
- The money games exist because a kid asked me how money works, and everything I found online was trying to sell him something.
These are the tools I use in my own work every day. This site is just where they live now — free for anyone with the same problems.
What every tool here promises
- It runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded, because there is no backend that receives them.
- No account, no email, no paywall. Open the page and use the tool.
- No ads and no fake buttons. Every button does exactly what its label says.
- The tools keep working offline once the page has loaded.
- When something has limits, the page says so instead of pretending.
How tools get added
A tool earns a spot here when I need it — or when enough people ask. It ships only after it works on real examples, and it gets fixed when it is wrong. No bulk-generated pages and no copy-paste filler: if a tool cannot do what its page claims, either the page changes or the tool does.
Have a tool you wish existed? Send a request — it is free, I read every one, and I reply by email.
